Named for the senior partner in the Rex Hill wine group, this single cuvée is always interesting, and never better than in 2014. The lush aromas of new French oak recall young Burgundy, and the tart, tightly wound fruit is clearly built to age. Compact and complex, the balance of ripe berries, crisp acids, sweet toast and polished tannins is spot on.
