Petit Verdot is the current darling of the Bordeaux crowd in California. It’s not hard to see why. It produces darkly colored, dry wines, deeply flavored in currants, cassis, chocolate and, often, violets, wrapped into firm tannins. This 100% varietal bottling is a good example. While not an ager, it’s a flashy, complex wine to drink over the next few years.
