The warm climate of Gisborne, on New Zealand’s North Island, isn’t known for its Riesling, but this is a solid effort, as long as sweetness isn’t an issue. Pineapple, peach and citrus flavors carry a hint of wet stone and deliver plenty of sugar (a reported 40 g/L), making it a strong candidate to pair with spicy Asian dishes.
