This is two-thirds Merlot, with a half-dozen other grapes filling in the balance. It’s a soft, thick and rich wine that feels and tastes as if it’s farther along the aging curve than the vintage would suggest. It’s loaded with smooth red and purple fruits, flavors of fig newton cookies, even a bit of tar—all in all a generous wine drinking at or near its flavor peak.
