The Wahluke Slope, Washington’s second-newest AVA, is proving to be one of the great Syrah-growing regions in the country because of the purity of the fruit, with rich black cherry and blackberry fruit, spiced up with white pepper and hints of cured meat. It’s still quite young and tightly wound, but air it out and you’ll find hints of gravel and earth.
